Before creating your first product, consider whether your catalog requires product categories.
If you need product categories, you can create one by navigating to Products > Category from the MonoBill Admin Dashboard. Click the "Create Category" button, fill in the category name, and upload an image if necessary. For more information on setting up product categories, visit our guide. Once your categories are set up, you can proceed to creating a product below.
Creating a product on MonoBill is straightforward. The bare minimum input for our products includes the following fields:
- Product Name
- Product Price
- Product SKU
- Product Status
All other fields are optional. In this guide, we will cover configuring a basic product with one variation. If your product has only one variation, you won't need to add additional variations.
Steps to Create a Product
Navigate to Products: Go to Products > All Products and click the add icon in the top right of the products table.
Configuring basic details of the product
- Enter Your Product Name: Choose a name that is most suitable for your product. While the choice is entirely up to you, it's recommended to keep names short and memorable.
- Upload Media: You can upload photos and videos to showcase your product. High-quality media helps attract customers.
- Set the Price: If the product is free, set the price to 0. Remember, the price entered here will be in the currency selected in General Settings.
- Enter the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU): This unique identifier helps you track and manage inventory.
Product availability
- Set Product Status: select whether the product is available by setting the status to publish or draft. Once published, you can see the availability for sales channels. By default, the product will be enabled on all sales channels. You can edit which channels will display the product as available, and set specific availability dates.
- Save the Product: Save the page, and you’ve created your first product. You can preview the product by clicking the "Preview" button at the top. For further adjustments and fine-tuning, continue with the following steps.
Configuring Inventory
- Track inventory: If you want to track inventory for this product using MonoBill, tick the checkbox for "Track inventory for this product."
- Sell out of stock: If you want to allow sales while the product is out of stock, tick the checkbox for "Continue to sell while out of stock."
- Setup inventory locations: You can set up inventory locations directly from the product page. Click "Edit Locations" and select the inventory locations where this product is stored. Close the pop-up box, click the inventory number next to the location, and adjust as necessary. You can also take inventory for all products once you've finished creating them.
By following these steps, you would have successfully created and configured a product on MonoBill.
